Imagine getting the high score in your class on a final exam and not being satisfied.

That’s how Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs, a top NFL draft prospect, feels right now.

At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Ruggs registered a 4.27-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time of any player in Indianapolis that week.

Somehow, that wasn’t good enough for Ruggs.

“I actually was a little disappointed,” Ruggs said on SiriusXM NFL Radio this week, according to Pro Football Talk. “Just a lot of technical things I did during the run … But I’m still glad to be known as one of the fastest ever.”

Ruggs addressed what he felt he could have done better.

“After the re-start, I was thinking a lot and didn’t really come out of my start like I wanted to, didn’t really come out fluid, and didn’t really push on my first two steps,” Ruggs said. “Then, running with my hands closed kind of tensed me up so I couldn’t really open up like I wanted to.”

In their latest NFL Mock Draft, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson and Josh Schrock have the Las Vegas Raiders picking Ruggs with the No. 12 overall selection.

Ruggs is one of the three best wide receivers in this draft class, along with Alabama teammate Jerry Jeudy and Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb. Both the Raiders and the 49ers have their eyes on the trio of standout wideouts.

If either team picks Ruggs, they are getting the fastest player in the class, and they won’t be disappointed by that development.

It hasn’t been the smoothest offseason for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

The signal-caller was booed off the field after the team’s final game in Oakland, and general manager Mike Mayock brought in some competition at his position with the signing of free agent Marcus Mariota.

But Carr is choosing to ignore the outside noise, focusing instead on trying to get the Las Vegas Raiders era off on a winning foot.

Appreciate you!! Don’t care anymore about the noise. I really use to care a lot about making everybody happy bro. That’s over. I don’t need any new friends in this football thing. I’m here to win and plan on doing so with my teammates this year! https://t.co/PZmgWs2tXR

Always been here bro don’t let people fool you. We just need to get back in the playoffs and make a run! Energy/ mentality/ work is always here. I love this team more than ANYONE I’ve never done anything but give my heart for this place! We are coming back!! Have to!!! https://t.co/T5taoRNvjZ

Carr set plenty of career highs statistically in 2019, but losing five of the final six games and missing out on an NFL playoff spot left a sour taste in that locker room.

Mariota’s addition to the depth chart does put some pressure on Carr, but he’s clearly embracing the first quarterback competition he’s faced since taking over as the Raiders’ starter.

The veteran quarterback has a clear message for those doubting him: He’s not going anywhere.

There are less than two weeks until the 2020 NFL Draft begins, which means #MockSZN is coming to an end.

For the past three months, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson and Josh Schrock have been rifling off a number of possible scenarios as they fall in love and out of love with a number of top draft prospects. But now, there’s a catch.

For the first time, Dalton and Josh were able to make trades and these fake general managers were wheeling and dealing. The 49ers and Raiders both were on their phones, adding more draft picks.

The real question is, which receivers do these teams take and do they do it with their top picks or wait in this deep draft class? Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb and Henry Ruggs all would be game-changers for the 49ers or Raiders. But there could be stars to be found later on as well.

The 2020 NFL Draft is weeks away. Who will be the next face of your franchise?
