The King of Staten Island was due to hit theaters this summer, but is coming directly to VOD as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The first trailer for the film, which stars Pete Davidson as Scott Ready and roughly follows the events of his own life, showcases the mix of cavalierness and honesty that Davidson has become famous for.

Scott has been stuck in a state of arrested development since the death of his father, a firefighter. Things around him are changing, however, as his younger sister (Maude Apatow) leaves for college and his mother (Marisa Tomei) finally begins seeing someone new (Bill Burr). Scott’s discovery that his mother’s new boyfriend is also a firefighter — and that everyone else might be moving on — forces him to reckon with actually growing up.

Bel Powley co-stars as Scott’s best friend, with Steve Buscemi (who previously had a career as an actual firefighter) plays another firefighter who helps Scott see a little more clearly.

The King of Staten Island arrives on VOD June 12.
