Juventus is through to the Coppa Italia final after earning a tricky 0-0 draw against AC Milan on Friday in the second leg of the semis. Juve drew the first leg at Milan 1-1 in February but could not find its scoring touch in what was Italy’s first game in months after the coronavirus pandemic.
It was that Cristiano Ronaldo penalty kick in the first leg that allowed Juve to advance on away goals where it will now face the winner of Saturday’s Napoli vs. Inter Milan tie.
Ronaldo had another penalty kick in this one but hit the post 16 minutes in, and Juve played over 70 minutes with a one-man advantage following Ante Rebic’s well-deserved red card moments after. Here’s how it looked:
While AC Milan was in the game and had the chance to steal it, it was Juve creating chance after chance, just not finishing. Paulo Dybala had a quality look in the second half that Gianluigi Donnarumma saved well.
Juve was strong in defense and gave Milan little space, with Matthijs de Ligt commanding the backline.
The Coppa Italia final is scheduled for June 17 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Juve last won it in 2018, beating Milan 4-0.
Final: Juventus 0, AC Milan 0 (Juve advances to final)

Donnarumma saves it!
Dybala almost puts it away with a shot from range! A knuckleball-like effort goes on frame and is pushed away well.
15 minutes to go
This match is hanging in the balance. Juve has had the chances to put it away, while Milan is firmly in it despite going down to 10 men. Milan pushing higher up. Going to have to play a bit risky to try and steal this one on the road.
Here’s Ronaldo’s penalty miss
Decent chance there down the right for Ronaldo who has hit shot blocked, but it nearly went in. Juve pushes for that key goal to take command of the tie.
What a waste!
48′ minutes in, Milan wastes a fantastic chance. Calhanoglu gets into the front post for a header but sends it wide. Was a golden chance.
Great chance there for Betancur in the attacking half and looked like a clear foul for a dangerous free kick, but nothing given.
Ronaldo gets in on the right and combines with Dybala, and CR7 takes a touch at the top of the box and fires, but it is saved well at the back post.
Here’s how Rebic got a red card …
Penalty for Juve … Ronaldo …
Off the woodwork! Juve had a chance to take full command and Ronaldo is denied from the frame with a powerful shot!
The first 15 minutes
It’s been an interesting start to this one. Juve has looked sharp early on, and the goal scorer from the first leg for Milan, Rebic was shown a red card.
Juve and Milan even so far
Juventus and Milan drew 1-1 in the first leg in February, with Cristiano Ronaldo getting the late penalty kick goal. Theo Hernandez got a red card for Milan in that one and is suspended as a result.
