Rumor: The Last of Us Part II Multiplayer Gameplay Footage May Have Leaked Online

The Last of Us Part 2’s online multiplayer mode has apparently been leaked online.

After the devastating gameplay footage of The Last of Us Part 2 leaked last April, fans of one of Sony’s most anticipated launches were left horrified as were the team at Naughty Dog. Just when we thought we were done with leaks from the game, some footage has cropped up on YouTube showcasing gameplay from Naughty Dog’s standalone multiplayer expansion, which is a successor to the original game’s PvP mode, Factions.

As you can tell from the video, the images are extremely grainy and hard to make out but what we can see is that someone who looks like the character who plays Mel using a knife while another player is running around using a bow. For someone who loves The Last of Us: Factions Multiplayer, this particular area here looks somewhat like Lakeside, one of the maps in the original online Factions mode. Whether the footage is genuine or not, it’s important to take it with a grain of salt at this stage and view it solely as a rumor.

The uploader named  The IrishLizard has stated that the video was “the best I could do due to it being an early build” but makes no mention of how they obtained said footage. It would be incredible to see a glimpse of The Last of Us Part 2‘s multiplayer mode due to being a huge fan of Factions and also how much of a die-hard fanbase Factions has, but until we get more proof on whether this 11-second reel is indeed the real deal, let’s enjoy the idea of maybe getting more official information about The Last of Us Part 2 multiplayer as soon as possible hopefully.

Naughty Dog has remained tight-lipped on this subject even though we know that they have been hiring for positions that just happened to be associated with The Last of Us Part II’s multiplayer, but with the soon to be release of the PlayStation 5 and Sony’s State of Play happening today, maybe we will get some clarity on when players could get their hands on it or at the very least, some news in whatever form that might be. Whatever the case may be, you can be sure that you’ll find all the gossip, news, and more here at DualShockers so stay tuned.
