There hasn’t been much news for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2 following Min Min’s release on June 29. However, Onua on Twitter recently posted an image of a Fighters Pass Vol. 2 ad that’s scheduled to be taken down on October 4, 2020.
If Nintendo’s patterns are anything to go by, then it means that the Fighters Pass 7 challenger will be releasing potentially in the near future. “Fighter Pass 7 will be announced extremely soon,” said Onua on Twitter. “This ad is up until October 4th. Everyone, be prepared.”
Eagle-eyed fans have taken notice of 7-Eleven ads in Japan that were posted shortly before the release of Banjo-Kazooie and Hero in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Similar to the current ad, Fighters Pass content was being advertised.
Shortly before these ads were taken down, Hero and Banjo-Kazooie were released in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC fighters. Supposedly, this means that we’ll be playing with the newest challenger before October 4, 2020.
It was recently revealed that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is being developed to serve as a prequel to the events of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At the conclusion of the trailer, we were told that the next update will take place on September 26, 2020.
As of right now, it’s unknown if this information drop for Age of Calamity will be a standalone event or if Nintendo is revving up for another full Nintendo Direct. If there is another Nintendo Direct in the near future, then we’ll very likely receive word about some Smash news.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Joker and Hero amiibo are scheduled to be released on September 25 in Japan and Europe. This means that a new patch will be required for these amiibo to be compatible.
While it does seem like a lot of information is lining up, all the evidence supporting a release in the near future is pretty circumstantial. Remember that it’s important to take rumors with a grain of salt and hype responsibly.
